Haigazian University

Haigazian University is a non-profit liberal arts university in the Kantari district of Beirut, Lebanon, located in a busy business area of the city. It was established on 17 October 1955 by the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) and the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (UAECNE). It follows the American model of higher education and teaches in English, and the university states that the Lebanese government officially recognises all its degrees. Students come from 20 countries, the student-teacher ratio is 14 to 1, and more than 4,700 students have graduated.

The university awards B.A., B.B.A., B.S., M.A. and M.B.A. degrees and a Teaching Diploma, with 30 majors across these faculties:

  • Business Administration and Economics
  • Sciences (natural and mathematical sciences)
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Humanities

Every student is supported by a faculty advisor, and financial aid is available. The Center for Continuing Education runs two evening programmes for adults, including in-service teacher training. Admission decisions are based on the chosen course of study, the academic record, a character recommendation and entrance examination results.

Admission Requirements

Haigazian University bases its admission decision on the chosen course of study, a good academic record, a character recommendation and entrance examination results; the site also publishes TOEFL dates for applicants. Applicants are admitted either with Regular Admission or Probationary Admission. Accepted students must enrol in courses within two semesters of their acceptance date. Financial Aid

Financial aid is available at Haigazian University. For the 2026-27 academic year the university continues a special tuition subsidy for all students: 10% for undergraduate and 5% for graduate programmes, in addition to any other financial aid or scholarship. Tuition can also be paid in instalments on fixed dates; late payments incur a fee of US$5 per day.
