Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) is a liberal arts and sciences institution in Geneva, New York, on the shores of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region. It was founded as two colleges, Hobart College for men in 1822 and William Smith College for women in 1908, which today share one campus, one faculty and one administration. HWS has more than 2,000 students.

The colleges offer more than 70 academic programmes leading to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, plus three master's degrees: the Master of Arts in Teaching, the Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership and the Master of Science in Management. Popular majors include business management and entrepreneurship, economics, biology, environmental studies, psychological science and architectural studies. According to the colleges, 60% of students study abroad, and HWS runs a guaranteed internship programme.

HWS has welcomed international students for over 100 years. International applicants use the Common Application or the Coalition Application, with no application fee, and eligible students can receive scholarships and grants.
