II LO im. M.Konopnickiej w Katowicach

II Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Marii Konopnickiej w Katowicach is a general secondary school (liceum) in Katowice. It was founded in 1948 on the basis of the Maria Konopnicka elementary school, which had operated since 1922 with a break during the wartime occupation. Since 1994 the school has belonged to the UNESCO Associated Schools Network, through which its students take part in international projects such as The Baltic Sea Project.

Students are grouped into class profiles, each with its own extended subjects; English is an extended subject in all of them:

• Bilingual Spanish section with a preparatory year, starting Spanish from scratch
• Humanities and law
• Linguistics and geography, including Spanish
• Biology and chemistry
• Mathematics, with computer science and physics
• Mathematics and economics
• Mathematics and biology

The bilingual Spanish section is under the patronage of the Embassy of Spain. Other profiles are supported by the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, the University of Economics in Katowice and the regional chamber of legal advisers. Students also take part in subject olympiads. The school website is in Polish.
