Indiana University Indianapolis (IU Indianapolis or IU Indy) is a research university in the centre of Indianapolis, Indiana (United States), classified as R1 by the Carnegie Classification and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It became an independent IU campus on 1 July 2024, after a decades-long partnership with Purdue University.
IU Indy has more than 15 schools, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in areas such as health, artificial intelligence, data science, business, STEM, and the arts and humanities, as well as professional programmes at the IU School of Medicine, the IU School of Dentistry and the Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Students come from many countries and from 49 US states.
Students who need a visa must document funds for tuition and living costs for nine months (undergraduate) or one year (graduate). Tuition is a flat rate for 12 to 18 credits per semester. About 40 percent of students live on campus, in Ball Hall, North Hall, University Tower or the Riverwalk apartments and townhomes.
