Jaén Montessori International School
Primary and secondary school in Jaén, Spain
Jaén Montessori International School (JMIS) is a bilingual Montessori school at Calle Nogal 2 in the city of Jaén, Andalusia. The school describes itself as the first bilingual international Montessori school in the province. It is in eligibility status with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), the first stage of the NEASC accreditation process, which advises the school on improvement.
The school follows Montessori principles, with Montessori-trained staff and lessons given individually or in small groups. An English immersion programme means that all pupils learn English as their main school language. It takes children from birth to age 12:
- Nest (0-18 months)
- Infant Community (18-36 months)
- Children's House (3-6 years)
- Elementary / Workshop I (6-9 years)
- Elementary / Workshop II (9-12 years)
Admission starts with a meeting with the family, a tour of the school with classroom observation and a request for a place. The child then visits the school, and the management team decides on admission and informs the parents. Families can also attend open days or ask for a personalised visit.
