Lafayette College is an undergraduate college in Easton, Pennsylvania, chartered in 1826 and named after the Marquis de Lafayette. It combines the liberal arts with engineering and interdisciplinary study in a residential setting, and its students come from 44 US states and territories and 60 countries.
Lafayette offers 51 majors and 41 minors across four divisions: humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering. Engineering students share a common first year before choosing one of five engineering degrees, and students can also design their own major with faculty. Undergraduate research, study abroad and Division I athletics are part of campus life.
International applicants apply through the Common Application and must show English proficiency. Lafayette states that it guarantees to meet the full demonstrated financial need of all admitted students, both domestic and international; because of this, it is need aware and considers an applicant's financial situation in admission decisions.

International first-year applicants submit the Common Application with a US$65 fee (a waiver can be requested), recommendations from a counsellor and at least one teacher, the official transcript and school report sent by the school, mid-year grades and an English proficiency test. SAT/ACT scores are optional for students entering in fall 2027 and fall 2028. Applicants for need-based aid also submit the CSS Profile. Interviews are encouraged but not required. National exams such as A-levels, the French Baccalaureate or the German Abitur may earn credit. Admitted students confirm with a US$750 non-refundable deposit.
International applicants must submit an English test such as TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo. Lafayette typically looks for at least TOEFL 100 (5 on the new TOEFL scale), IELTS 7 or Duolingo 130. Applicants whose first language is English or who have been taught in English for the past three years can request a waiver form.
Billed expenses for the 2026-27 academic year: tuition US$70,486, student activity fee US$360, housing US$12,968 and food (20 meals a week) US$7,928, plus a one-time matriculation fee of US$750 for first-year students; total US$92,492.
Lafayette states that it guarantees to meet the full demonstrated financial need of all admitted students, including international students. Need is calculated from the CSS Profile. Meeting need does not mean all expenses are covered, and summer and interim costs remain the family's responsibility. Admission is need aware: the college considers an applicant's financial situation when deciding.
