Madonna University is a private liberal arts university in Livonia, Michigan, founded in 1937, with further campuses in Macomb and Southfield. It has about 2,040 undergraduate and 404 graduate students, an 11:1 student-faculty ratio, and around 150 international students from more than 30 countries. Programmes are offered on campus, in hybrid format or fully online, and the university has a Center for Catholic Studies and Interfaith Dialogue.

The university has four residence halls with 480 beds. Its athletics teams compete in the NAIA and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Minors, certificates, associate and bachelor's degrees in more than 100 career-focused majors, in areas including:

  • Arts and humanities, including Spanish
  • Business, criminal justice and law
  • Education
  • Mathematics and sciences
  • Nursing and health sciences, including an Accelerated BSN (as few as 16 months, Southfield)

The Graduate School offers more than 30 master's programmes and doctoral degrees in education and nursing, for students who already hold a bachelor's degree.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate international applicants (or applicants with international transcripts) submit:

  • Completed application form
  • Official, stamped and sealed transcripts from all schools attended, showing subjects, grades, degrees and graduation date; course descriptions or syllabi are recommended for transfer credit
  • Official English test results (TOEFL, IELTS, MET or Duolingo)
  • For the I-20: a financial statement and a copy of the passport photo page

There are application deadlines for the fall, winter and summer semesters; deadlines for overseas applicants are one month earlier than for applicants transferring within the US.

Language Requirements

Minimum English scores:

  • Undergraduate: TOEFL iBT 70, IELTS 6, MET 51, Duolingo 105
  • Graduate: TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, MET 71, Duolingo 110

Applicants below these scores take a Madonna English placement test and may be admitted conditionally with English language classes. The university offers intensive English for Academic Purposes (ESL) classes.

Housing

Madonna University has four residence halls with 480 beds and a 24-hour front desk:

  • Francis Hall: single, double and quad rooms with community bathrooms
  • Felix Hall and Clare Hall: single and double rooms with semi-private bathrooms and a full kitchen on each floor
  • Angela Hall: five-bedroom apartments for juniors and seniors

Wi-Fi and laundry are free. First-year students from outside the live-on boundary must live on campus, and all residents need a meal plan. Halls close during breaks, but accommodation is available for students who stay.
