Maritime College of Forest Technology / Collège de Technologie Forestière des Maritimes

Fredericton, Canada

The Maritime College of Forest Technology (MCFT) is a forestry college in New Brunswick (Canada), established in April 1946 as the Maritime Forest Ranger School through a co-operative effort of the provincial governments of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and the regional wood-using industries. Its campus in Fredericton is on the grounds of the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre, and since 1980 the college has also trained forest technologists in French in Bathurst. MCFT has graduated more than 3,300 students.

All new students enrol in the two-year Forest Technology Diploma, which covers field skills, tree mensuration, forest sampling, geomatics, silviculture, forest fire, forestry operations, climate change and forest management. A 10-week forestry- or wildlife-related work practicum is required in the summer between the two years. Students can add the Advanced Diploma in Fish & Wildlife Technology and take optional professional certifications.

International applicants are evaluated individually against Canadian provincial standards. For 2026-27, international students pay $12,800 in tuition ($15,639 including fees, health benefits, books and field equipment). Students can live in the Bedard Hall and Torunski Hall residences with a meal plan.
