Newcastle University is a university in Newcastle upon Tyne, in the North East of England, whose origins date back to 1834. Besides its main campus in the city centre, it has campuses in Singapore and Malaysia. The university states that it is in the global top 150 of the QS World University Rankings 2027.

Most undergraduate degrees last three, four or five years, depending on the subject and on whether students add a study abroad period or a work placement. Newcastle also offers postgraduate and continuing professional development (CPD) courses.

Admission Requirements

All applications for undergraduate degrees are made online through UCAS. The university accepts a wide range of qualifications for entry, considers applications from mature students and from applicants who wish to defer entry by one year, and offers a lower conditional offer through its PARTNERS programme.

Financial Aid

Newcastle University offers more than 1,000 global scholarships for international and EU students (2027 intake), as well as its own scholarships and bursaries. Eligible students can also apply for government tuition fee and living cost loans and grants. The Student Advice Centre gives advice on student finance.

Housing

Newcastle University offers accommodation to all new students. Its residences are on campus or close to it, a short walk away or easily reached by public transport, and include options for undergraduates, postgraduates, families and couples. New residents move in in September, booking an arrival slot by email in August. Prices depend on the room type and facilities and are reviewed every year.
