Providence Country Day School (PCD) is an independent school for students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 in East Providence, Rhode Island, in the United States. All divisions share one campus at 660 Waterman Avenue. The school is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). According to the school, it has 446 students, 66 faculty members and an average class size of 14.

PCD is organised in a Lower School, a Middle School and an Upper School. Its programme combines:

  • A college-preparatory academic curriculum
  • A multi-media arts curriculum, with an arts centre that opened in 2026
  • An athletics programme
  • An annual community curriculum and a service programme

Applicants submit transcripts and teacher recommendations and visit the campus or have an interview; no entrance exams are required. The current admissions application deadline is 15 January 2027, after which applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The school publishes information for international students.

Admission Requirements

Lower School (pre-K to grade 4): transcript from the current school, if applicable; a recommendation from the current classroom teacher, if applicable; and a campus visit with a conversation with a Lower School teacher.

Middle and Upper School (grades 5-12): official transcript from the current school for the current and previous years; recommendations from the current English and Mathematics teachers (or the classroom teacher); and an interview with the Admissions Office. No entrance exams are required. International applicants also have an International Supplement.

Dates and Deadlines

Current admissions calendar:

  • 31 December 2026: financial aid application deadline for new families
  • 15 January 2027: admissions application deadline, including interviews and visits
  • 19 February 2027: admission and financial aid decisions emailed
  • 5 March 2027: families return enrolment contracts

After these dates, applications are accepted on a rolling basis as space and funds allow.
