Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is a university on a 1,159-acre campus in Henrietta, near the city of Rochester, New York (United States). Its roots go back to the Mechanics Institute, founded in 1885, and it took its current name in 1944. RIT has more than 21,000 students, including campuses abroad in Croatia, Dubai and Kosovo.
RIT offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in areas such as:
- Art, design and architecture; photography, film and animation
- Computing, AI and cybersecurity; game design and development
- Engineering and engineering technology
- Business and management
Cooperative education (co-op), paid work placements during the degree, is a central feature: 4,412 students took part last year. RIT has 1,879 international students from 115 countries. Applicants who do not yet meet the English requirements can receive conditional admission and take courses at the on-campus English Language Center. Through NTID, RIT also admits deaf and hard-of-hearing students. All international applicants are considered for merit scholarships.

Undergraduate minimum scores for full admission: Duolingo 120, TOEFL iBT 79 (new scale 4.5), IELTS 6.5, PTE Academic 58, LanguageCert Academic 70 or Michigan English Test 58. Applicants below these scores can be admitted conditionally and take additional courses at RIT's English Language Center alongside their degree. Graduate requirements vary by programme and include balanced sub-scores.
Cost of attendance for full-time undergraduates, 2026-27 academic year (same tuition for domestic and international students):

Full-time graduate tuition (12-18 credit hours) is US$64,542 for 2026-27. International students are automatically enrolled in and billed for the university health insurance plan unless they have comparable coverage.
All international applicants are considered for merit scholarships when they apply, and admitted students are told about their scholarship at the time of admission. RIT does not usually offer full-cost or full-tuition scholarships, except to doctoral students; graduate students can receive partial merit scholarships. Many students also earn money through on-campus jobs (over 6,400 students) or paid co-op placements, which paid an average of US$15,345 last year.
