Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) is a university in University Center, Michigan, in the United States, with more than 100 career-oriented programmes. Its colleges include Health & Human Services, the Scott L. Carmona College of Business, Science, Engineering and Technology, and Arts & Behavioral Sciences, and it offers graduate courses up to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), as well as an honors programme.
SVSU has more than 250 international students from over 45 countries. The Office of International Programs handles admissions and supports international students with immigration advising, an International Peer Program, an international student club and a Friends & Family Program. International first-year students can start in August or January and need, for example, IELTS 5.5 or Duolingo 105.
On-campus housing ranges from traditional residence halls and first-year suites to apartments and townhouses; more than 1,100 first-year students and over 1,400 upper-class students live on campus.

International first-year applicants submit the SVSU application with a $50 fee and upload:
- A colour copy of the passport information page
- High school transcripts, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4-point scale (SVSU converts grades itself; usually no external evaluation is needed)
- Proof of English proficiency
Decisions can be made on unofficial transcripts, and students in their final year of high school can receive provisional admission; official transcripts are required on arrival. Studies start in August or January only.
Minimum English scores for undergraduate admission:
- Duolingo: 105
- IELTS: 5.5
- TOEFL iBT: 4.0 (band score)
- Pearson PTE: 50
- SAT: 500 in reading and writing, or ACT: 18 in English/writing
The requirement may be waived for applicants from certain countries.
SVSU offers traditional residence halls, suites and apartments on campus:
- First-year suites: four single bedrooms with a kitchenette
- Living centers: four- and five-bedroom apartments with kitchen, and double or triple efficiency units
- Pine Grove and University Village for returning and transfer students: townhouses, apartments and single efficiencies
