Saint Louis University (SLU) is a Catholic, Jesuit university in St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States, founded in 1818. It also has an international campus in Madrid, Spain, which educates nearly 1,200 students and offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes as well as study abroad. SLU holds the Carnegie Foundation's R1 designation for research universities, and its community includes members from 100 countries. The university reports a student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1.
SLU offers nearly 100 undergraduate and 140 graduate programmes, plus minors, concentrations, certificates, microcredentials and accelerated bachelor's-to-master's programmes. Programme types include:
- Bachelor's degrees
- Master's degrees and doctorates
- Professional degrees in law and medicine
- Fully online bachelor's, master's and certificate programmes
- Summer college-credit courses for visiting students
First-year students apply through the Common Application. On the main campus, students can live in residence halls and apartments with learning communities, and there are more than 250 student organisations and over 30 athletic clubs.

Housing
SLU's Department of Housing and Residence Life runs residence halls and apartments on the St. Louis campus, including:
- Residence halls for first- and second-year students, such as Grand Hall, Spring Hall, Reinert Hall and the Griesedieck Complex
- Marchetti Towers, with studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, mainly for sophomores and juniors
- Grand Forest Apartments and Village Apartments for juniors and seniors
- Robert May Hall, for graduate, law and medical students only
- DeMattias Hall for members of recognised Greek organisations
Learning communities let students with shared interests live together. Marguerite Hall is temporarily closed in the 2026-27 academic year.
