Sciences Po Lyon is a public higher-education institution founded in 1948 to train managers for the public and private sectors. It has about 2,000 students, including 300 international students, and since 2017 has taught on two campuses, in Lyon and Saint-Étienne. The Lyon campus has been housed since 1999 in the Centre Berthelot in the city's 7th arrondissement.

The main programme lasts five years and is built on four core disciplines: history, law, political science and economics, complemented by management, information and communication studies, and languages. The third year is spent abroad. In the fourth year students choose one of five tracks:

  • Public affairs (Affaires publiques)
  • International affairs (Affaires internationales)
  • Communication
  • Territories (Territoires)
  • International Public Affairs

The final diploma confers the master's degree level (grade de master). Each year Sciences Po Lyon welcomes about 300 international students from more than 30 countries, for one or two exchange semesters, as free movers or through the regular entrance exams, and runs a pre-university module, Start' Sciences Po Lyon, for newcomers. It holds the Erasmus+ charter and has 86 Erasmus+ partner universities. First-year admission is through an entrance exam shared by the 7 schools of the Réseau ScPo, and international students with 180 ECTS credits can apply directly to the fourth year.
