The Université Lumière Lyon 2 is a university of humanities and social sciences in Lyon, France, founded in 1973. It has around 27,000 students from bachelor's (licence) to doctoral level, including more than 4,000 international students enrolled outside exchange programmes, on two main campuses, Berges du Rhône and Porte des Alpes. It is a founding member of the Lyon-Saint-Étienne university community (ComUE).

International students can come on an exchange programme or enrol individually (free movers) to take a full programme and obtain a French degree. Of particular interest to Spanish speakers is the MINERVE International Programme, linked to 16 licence degrees, in which subject courses are taught in German, Spanish or Italian; it will close at the start of the 2027-28 academic year.

  • Licence, master's and doctoral programmes in the humanities and social sciences
  • French as a foreign language at the Centre International d'Études Françaises (CIEF), including the DUEF diploma
  • French courses for exchange students (FEMI) and a summer course

The Direction des relations internationales (DRI) coordinates international matters, and the university points international applicants to the Eiffel excellence scholarship.
