SUNY Oswego is a university of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, with its main residential campus on the shores of Lake Ontario in Oswego, New York, a campus in downtown Syracuse and online programmes. It has about 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students, more than 120 academic programmes and a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
Oswego offers undergraduate, graduate and certificate programmes, including five-year combined degrees, an MBA and flexible options for adult learners. Students can take part in research, internships, creative projects and study abroad, and campus life includes more than 150 clubs and 22 NCAA Division III teams.
International students apply on a rolling basis through the SUNY Application or the Common App; SAT and ACT are optional. Successful applicants usually have at least TOEFL 71, IELTS 6.0 or PTE 55, and students with lower scores take intensive English on campus before admission. International students pay the out-of-state tuition rate, which is US$17,680 for the 2026-27 academic year. The university offers merit- and need-based scholarships, and the standard housing package includes a double room, residential services and a meal plan.

Admission
Holistic review on a rolling basis; international applicants should send all materials by mid-May for August entry or mid-November for January entry. Checklist:
- SUNY Application (plus SUNY Supplemental Application) or Common Application, with a non-refundable US$50 fee and a teacher/counsellor evaluation
- Official secondary school transcripts (transfer applicants: also all college transcripts)
- One letter of recommendation
- English proficiency scores
- A signed and stamped bank statement showing funds for the first year, plus the SUNY International Student Financial Statement if sponsored
SAT/ACT are optional; admitted students have a mean GPA of 89.5.
Language requirements
Successful applicants have a minimum English proficiency of TOEFL 71, IELTS 6.0 or PTE 55; other English assessments may be considered and some exemptions apply (contact the International Student and Scholar Services Office). Students below these levels need intensive English study on campus before admission.
