The Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, KUL) is a Catholic university in Lublin, Poland. It was founded in 1918 on the initiative of Father Idzi Radziszewski, who became its first rector, and its motto is Deo et Patriae. According to the university, it is the oldest higher education institution in Lublin and one of the oldest universities in Poland, and over more than a century it has become an important centre of Catholic thought.

In its latest recruitment round, KUL reports more than 3,600 new students. Its researchers take part in international projects, for example a model for the ethical governance of artificial intelligence developed with the University of Eastern Finland. Campus life includes the KUL University Library, which hosts events such as book launches, and the university choir, which recruits singers through auditions.

Accreditation

Most of the academic disciplines have already gained a Certificate of the Quality of Education, i.e. the accreditation of the University Accreditation Commission and redesigned their study programmes in line with European Credit Transfer System.
