The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a university in Lusaka, Zambia. Its creation followed the recommendations of the Lockwood Commission, and Act Number 66 of 1965 brought it into legal existence on 12 November 1965. The first academic session began on 17 March 1966 at the Ridgeway Campus. The main campus lies on the Great East Road, about 9 kilometres from Lusaka city centre, and covers some 290 hectares used for teaching and residential purposes.

UNZA offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, distance education and online programmes, and has a Graduate School of Business and a section for international students. Its schools include:

  • Education, Law, and Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Natural Sciences, Engineering and Mines
  • Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine
  • Medicine, Nursing Sciences, Health Sciences and Public Health

Undergraduate applications are submitted through the university's Online Application Portal, and a call for undergraduate admission applications for 2027 has been published.
