The University of Reading is a university in Reading, UK, which received its Royal Charter in 1926 and celebrates its centenary in 2026. It has more than 27,000 students and campuses in Reading (Whiteknights), Henley-upon-Thames, Johannesburg and Iskandar; its campus in Malaysia opened in 2015. According to the university, it is joint 196th in the QS World University Rankings 2027, and it has received the Queen's Anniversary Prize five times.
Subjects range from agriculture, food and meteorology to business, law, politics, psychology, languages and the arts. There are more than 150 taught postgraduate courses, PhDs and professional doctorates, and International Foundation Pathways for international students. Spanish can be studied within the BA Modern Languages, on its own or combined with another language or subject, with up to a year in Spain or Latin America.
The 2026-27 academic year runs in two semesters, from 28 September 2026 to 28 May 2027. University accommodation is on or near Whiteknights campus, from standard rooms to en-suite rooms and townhouses. An international student advice team helps with immigration and general questions.

Degrees last three or four years; for example, the BA Modern Languages (with Spanish) takes four years including a year abroad. International Foundation Pathways prepare international students for degree study.
The University of Reading offers more than 150 taught postgraduate courses, as well as PhDs and professional doctorates. Postgraduate subject areas include business (pre- and post-experience), data science, digital business, information technology, international development and applied economics, law, real estate and planning, social policy, strategic studies and teacher training. Taught master's degrees usually last 12 months full-time or 24 months part-time, for example the MA Conflict and International Security or the MA International Relations and Diplomacy.
