The Universidad de Montevideo is a private university based in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was founded in 1986, but gained the right to be legally named a university in 1997. The institution has seven departments: Department of Management Science and Economics; Department of Law; Department of Communication; Department of Humanities; Department of Engineering; IEEM (business school); Center of Biomedical sciences. The school follows the mission to promote a culture of work and service through excellence in all academic activities.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted at the University of Montevideo, International Students should comply with the following prerequisites: 1. Complete the application form and send it to the Office of International Affairs. 2. Send the official home university transcript and one (1) academic letter of reference. 3. Short essay (about 200 words) stating the reasons for studying at the UM. 4. Photocopy of Passport. 5. Study plan at UM (a list of desired classes) 6. Language Requirements

Classes are taught in Spanish. English courses are mandatory at the undergraduate level. The Foreign Languages Department offers intensive and regular courses for foreigners, in English and in Spanish, in a wide range of fields: Latin American Culture, Business Environment, Global Supply Networks and Manufacturing, Economic Integration, Legal Systems, etc. Contact: [email protected]
