The Universidade de Brasília (UnB) is the federal university of Brasília, Brazil's capital. It was created by Law 3.998, signed on 15 December 1961, and inaugurated on 21 April 1962, when the city was only two years old. Its founders were the anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro, who defined the institution's bases, the educator Anísio Teixeira, who planned its teaching model, and the architect Oscar Niemeyer, who designed its buildings. UnB was organised as a foundation, and its founding Plano Orientador of 1962 is still in force.

UnB offers undergraduate (graduação) and graduate (pós-graduação) programmes, as well as undergraduate research (iniciação científica). One of its admission routes is the PAS, a selection process in stages. The university has announced that the admission calendar for undergraduate programmes changes from 2027 and has a dedicated website with information on undergraduate admission.

Student assistance calls are open to undergraduate and graduate students, and the campus has a central library and a university restaurant. UnB has an internationalisation plan and signs academic agreements with institutions abroad, such as a recent agreement with a South Korean institute.
