The Université de Limoges (University of Limoges) is a French university based in Limoges, with sites in five cities across three departments, including Brive. Its main fields are health, engineering, literature, law, and the humanities and social sciences. Teaching is organised in faculties and institutes:

  • Faculties of Law and Economics, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science and Technology
  • Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy
  • Limoges National Graduate School of Engineering (ENSIL-ENSCI)
  • University Institute of Technology of Limousin (IUT)
  • Institute of Business Administration (IAE) and other institutes

Programmes range from the B.U.T. and licence (bachelor's) to 34 master's subjects with more than 80 pathways, health studies and engineering degrees, plus doctoral training. According to the university, more than 14% of its students come from abroad; it offers 34 double and international partnership degrees and some courses in English, such as the Master Ascyon and the Master Banking and Finance. It takes part in Erasmus exchanges, has an International Reception Office and offers French as a foreign language training (DU LCF). Applications go through one of four national platforms depending on the applicant's diploma and country, and the university reserves 250 CROUS residence places for certain international students.

Undergraduate studies include the licence (bachelor's degree), the B.U.T. (technology bachelor's at the IUT of Limousin), health studies and engineering degrees. Main areas:

The university offers 34 master's subjects with more than 80 pathways, in initial training or work-study (alternance); first-year master's applications go through the Mon Master platform. Examples include international and European criminal law and sports law and economics. Master's programmes taught in English include the Master Ascyon (Algorithmic, Symbolic Computation and Numerical Optimisation) and the Master Banking and Finance. Doctoral studies are run by the Doctoral College.

Admission Requirements

Applicants use one of four platforms, depending on their secondary school diploma, intended level and country of residence: Parcoursup, Mon Master, eCandidat or Campus France. Non-EU students living in one of the 73 countries covered by the "Études en France" procedure apply through Campus France; other non-EU applicants to the first year use the DAP (preliminary admission request) procedure. International students should also certify their language level and obtain a visa if needed. Erasmus students bring their home university's authorisation to study at Limoges.

Housing

The university has reserved 250 places in CROUS residences for certain international students, such as exchange students (Erasmus and N+I), students in international partnership degrees and students taking French language training; it acts as their guarantor with CROUS. Applications are handled by the International Welcome Office and should be made before 30 June for the following academic year. CROUS also offers 10 m² rooms with en-suite shower and 20 m² studios, and private rentals can be found through CRIJ Limousin, Lokaviz or Le Bon Coin.
