The Université de technologie de Troyes (UTT, University of Technology of Troyes) is a French technological university that combines the university model with that of a grande école of engineering. Its campus is 4 km from the centre of Troyes, a city in the Grand Est region about an hour and a half from Paris.

Its main programme is the engineering degree (diplôme d'ingénieur): a common core followed by three years of progressive specialisation in one of seven branches, with an individual timetable for each student and free choice of specialisation. It also offers:

  • A national master's degree (Diplôme National de Master) in Sciences, Technologies and Health, recognised by the French State
  • Four Mastère Spécialisé programmes
  • A Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence and professional bachelor's degrees
  • Doctoral studies and continuing education

UTT welcomes students of more than 50 nationalities and has nearly 230 partner universities; it is a member of the European University of Technology (EUt+) alliance. Most students live in the city centre and reach the campus by bus or bike in about 20 minutes; exchange students are eligible for the CROUS university residence on campus. The International Center ([email protected]) supports international students.

More information about Graduate Programs

The UTT master's is a Diplôme National de Master in Sciences, Technologies and Health, recognised by the French State, with four mentions:

  • Applied Physics and Physical Engineering (Physique Appliquée et Ingénierie Physique), including the Graduate School Nano-optics and Nanophotonics
  • Complex Systems Engineering (Ingénierie des Systèmes Complexes)
  • Risks and Environment (Risques et Environnement)
  • Design Engineering (Ingénierie de Conception)

Tracks include information systems security and AI and smart tech. Admission Requirements

Applications depend on the programme: the first years of the engineering degree (Tronc Commun) are applied for through Parcoursup, while entry to an engineering branch, the master's tracks, the Mastère Spécialisé programmes, professional bachelor's degrees and the doctorate each have their own procedure and dates on the UTT admissions page. Information on study funding and scholarships, including the Accélérateurs de talents grants, is published on the same page.

Housing

The campus is 4 km from the centre of Troyes; most students live in the city centre and travel by bus (20 minutes) or bike. The International Center helps students from partner universities book accommodation, and admitted international students can use an online services platform with UTT's housing partners. Exchange students are eligible for the CROUS university residence on campus, but places are limited and not guaranteed. Housing (single flats or flatshares, furnished) is on campus or downtown, with rents from €333 to €600 per month (page updated July 2026). Tenants need home insurance and a guarantor living in France or the EU, or the free VISALE guarantee.
