The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is a public university in the Fraser Valley, just east of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. It describes itself as fully accredited and enrols approximately 15,000 students per year. UFV has campuses and locations in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission and Hope, and a growing presence in Chandigarh, India.

The university offers more than 100 programmes, including three master's degrees, 21 bachelor's degrees with majors, minors and extended minors in more than 35 subject areas, four graduate certificates and more than a dozen trades and technology programmes.

Language-related options include English Language Studies certificates, a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, a minor in Spanish language and culture and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies. UFV also runs three-week summer programmes of classes and cultural activities in British Columbia. On the Abbotsford campus, the new Lá:léms Ye EverGreen residence offers private rooms in singles, studios and four-person quads, and first-year housing students must take a meal plan. Programmes

UFV offers bachelor's degrees (typically eight semesters of full-time study), diplomas (four semesters) and certificates (two semesters). Examples:

  • Bachelor of Arts, including Latin American Studies and a minor in Spanish language and culture
  • Bachelor of Business Administration, including Aviation
  • Bachelor of Science in Computing Science or Nursing
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts
  • Bachelor of Social Work, Education and Kinesiology degrees
  • English Language Studies certificates and a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate
  • Trades certificates such as Carpentry, Electrician and Welding

Graduate programmes

UFV's School of Graduate Studies offers three master's degrees and four graduate certificates, and the university also runs post-baccalaureate diplomas and certificates. Examples:

  • Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Mentorship
  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Graduate certificate in Child Life and Community Health
  • Post-baccalaureate diplomas in AI and Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, International Business and Financial Analytics
  • Post-baccalaureate certificate in Data Analysis

Duration

  • Bachelor's degree: typically eight semesters of full-time study (four years without summer semesters)
  • Diploma: four semesters (two years) of full-time study
  • Certificate: two semesters (one year) of full-time study

Housing

UFV's newest residence, Lá:léms Ye EverGreen, is on the Abbotsford campus. All rooms are private and furnished, with internet and utilities included:

  • Quad: four private bedrooms sharing two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room
  • Studio: private room with its own kitchen and bathroom
  • Single: private room with shared bathrooms down the hall

All room types have accessible options. Each floor has a community kitchen, laundry, lounges and study rooms. A meal plan is required for first-year housing students. Traditional family housing is not offered. Contact: [email protected].

Accreditation

UCFV is nationally accredited through AUCC (Association of University and Colleges of Canada) and ACCC (Association of Canadian Community Colleges). We are provincially accredited through AVED (British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education).
