The Study Abroad program at the University of Idaho, also known as Idaho Abroad, is led by a staff of dedicated individuals who are there to help students, faculty, and staff travel abroad for study, internships, research, volunteer work, or teaching and to help enhance global learning experiences on campus.
The mission of Idaho Abroad is to provide access to international experiences to all University of Idaho students, to promote and facilitate the development of globally competent students, and to contribute to campus internationalization and global learning through the study abroad experience.
The University of Idaho is affiliated with over 370 universities in 69 countries, including 29 partnership universities and affiliations with 5 study abroad program providers. International Internships through the university are available in 32 countries in virtually any field of study. In addition, the University of Idaho is one of only a handful of universities in the U.S. that has a student fee-funded study abroad scholarship. At the UI, it is the International Experience Grant and it provides $157,000 in study abroad scholarships each year. An average of 15% of UI students who graduate will have studied abroad during the course of their education.
As participants in the Idaho Abroad program, students have the unique opportunity to travel to amazing towns and cities, visit historically significant monuments and incredible museums, sample different and delicious foods, experience interesting and colorful festivals, and best of all, make friends with many of the students and locals they meet along their journey.
All students studying at the University of Idaho, including international students, are welcome to apply to the Idaho Abroad program—a process that begins with just a simple application form.
