The University of Latvia (Latvijas Universitāte, UL) is a comprehensive university in Riga, with its main building at Raiņa bulvāris 19. According to the university, it is the largest in Latvia by total number of students. It offers higher education at several levels to students from Latvia and abroad, alongside research in the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, technical sciences and medicine.

Research is carried out in faculties and scientific institutes and covers more than 50 research areas. The university is building its Academic Centre in Torņakalns, where the House of Nature opened in 2015 and the House of Science was completed in 2019; a House of Letters for the humanities and social sciences faculties and the library is planned. In autumn 2026 more than 400 international and exchange students began their studies at UL. The university is a member of the FORTHEM alliance, which offers short-term mobility, and runs an annual Summer School of Latvian Language and Culture in August. In 2026 its BA School of Business and Finance became the UL FinTech Business School.
