The University of Hartford (UHart) is a private, independent and nonsectarian university founded in 1957. Its 350-acre main campus lies where Hartford, the capital of Connecticut, meets West Hartford and Bloomfield, about two hours from Boston and New York City. It has around 6,000 students, about 4,300 of them undergraduates, from 53 countries, and a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1.
Teaching is organised in seven schools and colleges:

The university offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees as well as certificates, in fields ranging from engineering, business and health sciences to fine arts, music and performing arts. Undergraduates apply online or through the Common Application. On-campus housing covers first-year, returning and transfer students and graduate students.
