The University of Vermont (UVM) is the land-grant university of the state of Vermont, located in Burlington (United States). Chartered in 1791 as the fifth college in New England, it began as a private university and gained quasi-public status in 1862; today it blends both traditions. It holds the Carnegie R1 classification.

UVM offers more than 100 bachelor's degrees in areas such as arts, humanities and social sciences, business, education, environment and sustainability, food and agriculture, health and STEM, plus master's and doctoral programmes through the Graduate College and medicine at the Larner College of Medicine.

International first-year and transfer applicants apply through the Common App or the Coalition App (Scoir) with no application fee; SAT/ACT scores are optional. Non-native English speakers need, for example, TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110. The estimated I-20 cost of attendance for 2026-27 is US$79,012, and international students are automatically considered for merit scholarships of up to US$30,000 a year. First-year students can live in Residential Learning Communities linked to their interests.
