Washington State University (WSU) is a public research university in the state of Washington (United States), with six campuses and 11 academic colleges. The main campus, the oldest (founded in 1890) and largest, is in Pullman, in southeastern Washington; the others are the health sciences campus in Spokane, Tri-Cities in Richland, Vancouver (Portland metropolitan area), Everett near Seattle, and the online Global Campus. In fall 2025 WSU had 25,477 students across all campuses, from about 100 countries, and it holds the Carnegie Classification designation for very high research spending and doctorate production (2025).
WSU offers more than 200 undergraduate fields of study and nearly 150 graduate and professional degree programmes, including veterinary medicine, nursing, medicine and pharmacy.
For international students, WSU International provides academic, English and cultural support, peer mentors and help with immigration matters. Besides bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, it runs pathway programmes that lead into degree study: Academic English, the Undergraduate Foundation and the International Master's. WSU also receives incoming exchange students.

More than 200 undergraduate fields of study in 11 academic colleges, offered on six campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, Everett and the online Global Campus). Campus focus examples:
- Spokane: health sciences
- Tri-Cities: more than 50 programmes, many in STEM fields
- Vancouver: business, computer science and engineering
- Everett: junior- and senior-year courses in data analytics, engineering and hospitality business management
- Global Campus: online programmes such as accounting, human development and criminal justice
International pathways: Academic English and the Undergraduate Foundation, which combines degree coursework with English support.
Nearly 150 graduate and professional degree programmes (master's and doctoral), with 4,077 graduate and professional students in fall 2025. Professional degrees include veterinary medicine (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine), pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy), nursing and medicine. Graduate admission is decided jointly by the Graduate School and the department. International students can also start with the International Master's (IM) pathway.
International undergraduate applicants apply with the WSU application, the Common App (first-year students) or Cialfo, and pay a non-refundable $70 application fee.
- First-year: at least 12 years of schooling with a secondary certificate or external examination, minimum GPA 2.70 (4.00 scale)
- Transfer: at least 27 semester credits or one full year of post-secondary study, minimum GPA 2.50
- Transcripts: unofficial copies for the decision, official transcripts before arrival; WSU evaluates them
- Copy of the passport identity page
- After admission: certificate of finances covering at least one year of tuition and expenses
AS/A-level and IB exams may earn transfer credit.
Teaching is in English. Minimum scores for direct (traditional) undergraduate admission include IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 4, Duolingo 105, PTE Academic 58 and Cambridge C1 Advanced; lower scores (for example IELTS 6.0 or 5.5) lead to the Undergraduate Foundation, which combines degree courses with English support. Scores must be less than two years old. Waivers apply, for example, to citizens of listed English-speaking countries and to students schooled in English.
