Wright State University

Wright State University is a public university in Dayton, Ohio, named after the aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright. It has more than 11,000 students and is made up of six colleges and a medical school, with a main campus in Dayton and a branch campus in Celina, Ohio; together the two campuses have 32 academic buildings on 730 acres. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Wright State offers 160 undergraduate degree programmes and 155 graduate options, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1. Subjects range widely, for example:

  • Engineering, including aerospace systems engineering, and cyber security
  • Medicine and nursing
  • Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
  • Motion pictures
  • Spanish, including Spanish for business, law enforcement, medical professions and social work

Applications are made online; domestic undergraduate applicants pay no application fee, and the College Credit Plus programme lets students in grades 7 to 12 earn college credit. International students are supported by the University Center for International Education. Students can live on campus, for example in The Woods residence, and the Wright Guarantee Tuition Program fixes in-state tuition, housing and dining costs for four years for new undergraduates.
