Academia Guiu

Academia Guiu (Guiu Academy) is a private academy in central Barcelona that prepares students for the Spanish university entrance exam (PAU, also called Selectividad). The school states that it has offered these preparation courses since 1892. It is on Balmes street, between Aragó and Consell de Cent, close to Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya.

PAU preparation is offered in several formats, so students can start at different points of the year:

• Annual PAU course (October to May, 8 months)
• Intensive course (January to May)
• Super-intensive course (five weeks in May)
• Summer course (July and August)
• Introductory chemistry course (September and October)
• Preparation for the PAP aptitude tests for Early Childhood and Primary Education degrees

The academy also offers support for the Spanish Bachillerato and the International Baccalaureate, Spanish classes for foreigners, private lessons and school tutoring. A free level test helps students choose a course. International students receive an enrolment certificate and invitation letter for their visa application, and partner agents abroad help with registration. The academy does not run its own housing, but its website describes the main options in Barcelona: student residences, rooms in shared flats and rented apartments.
