Adelante Abroad is a US-based organisation, founded in 1999, that arranges internships, volunteering and study abroad programmes in Spain, Latin America and Scotland. Its headquarters are in the United States, and it has full-time programme directors in each city where it operates. Programmes are aimed at students, recent graduates and gap-year students, and each candidate is assessed individually, taking age, field of study, work experience and language level into account.

Internships last 2 to 6 months and start on the first Monday of every month, all year; one-month programmes exist for some fields. Every programme includes housing in a private room, two weeks of language classes, airport pickup and drop-off, and 24/7 in-country support. Some universities award academic credit for the internships, and Adelante provides the documentation. Applications must be submitted at least 60 days before the desired start date.

Admission

Candidates fill in a free online application with their academic background, interests and preferred destinations, and then have a 20-30 minute call with an advisor, at the end of which acceptance is decided. Each candidate is considered individually, taking age, field of study, work experience and language level into account. Accepted candidates confirm their place by paying a $325 application fee. Applications must be submitted at least 60 days before the desired start date.

Fees

Programme fees for 2027, in US dollars, including accommodation:

Spring semester study abroad in Seville (25 January to 14 May 2027): $8,950
Equine study abroad in Scotland (30 May to 26 June 2027): $7,250
Observation and research in Edinburgh (23 May to 25 June 2027): $6,450

After acceptance, a $325 application fee confirms the place; the full programme fee is due 60 days before departure. Internship prices vary by destination and length.

Duration

Internships last 2 to 6 months and start on the first Monday of each month, all year; a mid-May start is also available in summer, and one-month internships are offered in some fields (such as teaching English or social media in Spain). Semester study abroad in Seville lasts 17 weeks in spring and 15 weeks in autumn, and summer programmes last 3 to 5 weeks.

Housing

Housing is included in every programme fee, with a private room for each participant. Details of the accommodation are confirmed about one month before arrival. Programmes also include airport pickup and drop-off and 24/7 support from in-country staff.
