Alexandria University

Alexandria University is a university in Alexandria, Egypt, and, according to the university, the second modern university in the country after Cairo. It began as a branch of the Faculty of Law of Fuad I University in Alexandria. Its campus includes a medical complex and a humanities complex, and the university runs its own university hospitals.

Teaching is organised in faculties that include Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Agriculture (established in August 1942), Commerce, and Tourism and Hotels. In 2026 the Faculty of Dentistry received RCSEd accreditation, and a US accreditation team reviewed the Faculty of Pharmacy. The university treats research as an essential partner of classroom and laboratory teaching, and it reports being among the world's top 1,000 universities in the Times Higher Education 2027 rankings. The Nobel Prize-winning chemist Ahmed Zewail is a graduate.

For international students, Alexandria University offers scholarships to students from Nile Basin countries and many other countries. Its own students take part in international exchange programmes in Europe. Services include e-learning and a digital library.
