Avans University of Applied Sciences

Avans Hogeschool is a Dutch higher education institution offering practice-oriented programmes, with locations in Breda, Den Bosch ('s-Hertogenbosch), Roosendaal and Tilburg. Besides teaching, Avans carries out practice-oriented research, organised around four themes, among them health, care and welfare and technological innovation in materials and the energy transition.

  • Four-year hbo bachelor's degrees, full-time, part-time or dual (work and study)
  • Two-year Associate degree programmes at hbo level
  • Hbo master's programmes
  • Courses for working professionals

The bachelor's programmes focus on learning by doing: students work on real projects and complete internships. The dual and part-time routes are designed for students with a relevant job, who usually attend classes one or two days, or parts of days, per week. Students can start a bachelor's degree after havo or vwo, or move on from an mbo level 4 programme or an Avans Associate degree; after graduating, they can work or continue to an hbo or university master's degree.
