Bermuda College
University, Graduate school in South Road, Bermuda
Bermuda College is a community college at 21 Stonington Avenue, South Road, in Paget, Bermuda. It was created by the Parliament of Bermuda through the Bermuda College Act in 1974 and is the island's only post-secondary higher education institution. The college is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, based in Burlington, Massachusetts.
Its programmes include:
- Associate of Arts, Associate of Applied Science and Associate in Science degrees (over 30 associate degrees)
- Diplomas and certificates
- Professional certificates, designations and short exam-review courses through Athora Professional and Career Education (APACE)
- Online professional development courses
- Dual enrolment for senior school students
- Weekly lifelong learning courses for people aged 55 and over
An associate degree can serve as the first step towards a bachelor's degree: the college has more than 30 transfer agreements and partnerships with institutions in Canada, the UK, the United States and the Caribbean. For example, students can complete the first year of an electrical engineering pathway in Bermuda and then enter year two of a degree at Dalhousie University in Canada. Admission is rolling, with a decision within about four weeks of receiving all documents. Tuition is charged per credit; international students, including non-Bermudians who have lived on the island for less than five years, pay international fees, and scholarships and financial aid are available.
