The establishment of Cornell University took place in 1865 on East Hill, Ithaca, New York. The university structure has seven undergraduate colleges, seven graduate departments and two remote campuses; one in New York City and one in Education City, Qatar (First American Medical offshore school). The number of enrolled students at Cornell is over 20,000 from 120 countries worldwide. Cornell has an acceptance rate of only 15%. Cornell is the first institute to offer degree in Veterinary Medicine, PhD in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Furthermore, Cornell holds credit for forming the first four year curriculum for hotel, industrial and labor management. Moreover, the school was the first University in United States to run a major in American Studies and Eastern Languages. Cornell is endorsed by Middle States Commission on Higher Studies. In 2010 the institution was ranked 15th in the world by QS World Ranking and Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
