Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulu (HAMK) is a Finnish university of applied sciences. According to the school, its community has more than 10,000 people working in bioeconomy, wellbeing, education, business, design and technology. HAMK is part of the RUN-EU European University, which brings together ten European higher education institutions from nine countries, and it carries out applied research.

HAMK offers degree programmes in seven fields:

  • Entrepreneurship and business
  • Design
  • Natural resources and bioeconomy
  • Technology and transport
  • Social and health care
  • Information technology and ICT
  • Teacher education

Its master's-level degrees (ylempi AMK, EQF level 7) are taught in Finnish and English and give the same eligibility as a university master's degree, including access to doctoral studies. They take 1.5 to 2 years (60 or 90 credits), and most are taught fully online. The English-taught Management in Sustainable Business programme has 90 ECTS credits. Applicants need a suitable higher education degree and at least two years of work experience in the field after their bachelor's degree.

Graduate programmes

HAMK's master's-level degrees (ylempi AMK, EQF level 7) are designed to be studied alongside work. Most are fully online and some are blended, with about one or two contact days a month; studies take 1.5 to 2 years for 60 or 90 credits. Programmes are taught in Finnish and English, for example:

  • Management in Sustainable Business (in English, 90 ECTS credits)
  • Biotalouden ratkaisut (bioeconomy solutions)
  • Liiketoiminnan kehittäminen (business development)
  • Sosiaali- ja terveysalan kehittäminen ja johtaminen (social and health care development and management)
  • Teknologiaosaamisen johtaminen (technology management)

Admission

For master's-level (ylempi AMK) degrees, applicants need a suitable higher education degree and at least two years of work experience in the field after their bachelor's degree. Applications for English-taught master's programmes are usually made in January, in the first spring joint application round; Finnish-taught programmes are in the second spring round. Selection is by a pre-assignment or a selection course, depending on the programme.
