Language school in Cuernavaca, Mexico
IDEAL Spanish Mexico (IDEAL Escuela de Español) is a Spanish language school based in Cuernavaca, Morelos, with a second campus in Oaxaca; in 2025 it marked 50 years of activity. The Cuernavaca school is at Privada Narciso Mendoza 107, in the Pradera neighbourhood. Classes are taught in person and online, and groups have no more than five students.
- Intensive programme: 25 lessons of 50 minutes a week
- Regular (20 lessons) and Express (15 lessons) programmes
- Basic and Super-Intensive programmes in Oaxaca, with afternoon craft and cooking workshops
- Private lessons, seven days a week
- Specialised tracks: travellers aged 50+, solo travellers, ministry and religious service, educator groups and business Spanish
Most programmes start every Monday, and students choose how many weeks to stay. Beginners are welcome; a written or oral placement test on the first day sets the level. The school offers optional cultural, recreational and social activities. It does not award academic credit itself, but students may ask their home institution about credit. Housing options include host families within walking distance of the school, hotels, hostels and, for longer stays, apartments.

Programmes
Cuernavaca:
- Intensive Program: 25 lessons of 50 minutes a week, 9 am to 2 pm
- Regular Program: 20 lessons a week, 9 am to 1 pm
- Express Program: 15 lessons a week, 9 am to 12 pm
- Private lessons, also in Oaxaca, 7 days a week
Oaxaca:
- Basic Program: 15 lessons a week in two sessions
- Super-Intensive: 30 lessons a week in three sessions
- Super-Intensive Workshops: 20 lessons a week plus afternoon weaving, wood-carving and cooking workshops
Online classes are also available. Group classes have a maximum of 5 students, and courses start every Monday.
Language requirements
No prior Spanish is required: students of any level, including complete beginners, can join. A written and/or oral evaluation on the first day places each student in the right group; an advance written evaluation can be requested. Help in English is available at any time.

- Mexican host families within walking distance of the school, with half board (breakfast and the midday main meal); shared rooms only for students travelling together; laundry not included
