Language school in Venice, Italy

Istituto Venezia is an Italian language school with centres in Venice and Trieste. It is officially recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education, complies with the UNI 11863:22 quality standard and is a member of ASILS and Eduitalia. The Venice school is in the Dorsoduro district.

Intensive group courses run for three hours a day, Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 12 students per class. They start every month and last four weeks (60 hours), or one to three weeks. Other options include:

The school coordinates the Italian courses for foreigners of Venice International University and organises study abroad programmes for several American universities. Cultural activities are organised in the afternoons. Accommodation options include a single room with local hosts and, in Venice, rooms in Palazzo Minelli e Contarini and in the Santa Marta residence. Students from outside the EU who need a student visa must enrol at least 10 weeks before the course starts; the school sends them an admission letter for the Italian embassy or consulate.

Language requirements

No special requirements for admission. Levels from A1 onwards can start on any monday, while beginners (level A0) must start from proper beginners dates.

Fees

Course fees for 2026 and 2027 (in euros):

Intensive course in Venice (2026 and 2027): €320 for 1 week, €510 for 2 weeks, €690 for 3 weeks, €860 for 4 weeks; €2,280 for 12 weeks and €4,560 for 24 weeks
Intensive course in Trieste: €250 (1 week) to €660 (4 weeks) in 2026; €260 to €680 in 2027
Individual lessons for one student (2026 and 2027): €50 per hour in Venice, €45 per hour in Trieste
Art course in Venice (2026 and 2027): €350 for 1 week, €620 for 2 weeks

Housing

Istituto Venezia books several types of accommodation in Venice:

Casa Cardinal Piazza, in the Renaissance Palazzo Minelli e Contarini: simple rooms with private bathroom, about a 25-minute walk from the school
Santa Marta residence in the Dorsoduro district, a few minutes' walk from the school: single or double rooms with private bathroom and kitchenette
Homestay: a single room with use of the kitchen, usually with a couple without children or a single person

Rooms are available from the Sunday before the course to the Saturday morning after it ends, and accommodation is paid on the first day of the course.
