The NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management is a private business school on the campus of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) in Hamburg-Harburg, Germany. It was founded in 1998 by TUHH professors as a non-profit company, and it is located in Building F of the TUHH campus at Kasernenstrasse 12.
The NIT teaches management to engineers and science graduates. Its programmes are:
- Technology Management (MBA, or M.A. for students with less than one year of work experience)
- Double Master's degree: Technology Management at the NIT combined with an engineering or science M.Sc. at the TUHH, over four semesters
- M.Sc. in Business Analytics & AI, designed for working professionals
- Lifelong learning courses
The MBA is accredited by FIBAA, and degrees are issued jointly by the TUHH and the NIT. Teaching is in English and combines modules in management, innovation, entrepreneurship and digitalisation with soft skills and a foreign language. The school admits 30 to 40 students a year to its Technology Management class, through an application and a personal interview. Students can live in student apartments on campus, and international students get help with visas, health insurance and banking, as well as a host and buddy programme. Industrial tuition scholarships are offered through the NIT.

Graduate programmes
- Technology Management: MBA (with 12 months' relevant work experience after the bachelor's) or M.A.; 90 ECTS for EU citizens or 120 ECTS (required for non-EU students needing a visa)
- Double Master's: Technology Management at the NIT (90 ECTS) plus an M.Sc. at the TUHH (120 ECTS), in four semesters; combinable with the TUHH's six international English-taught M.Sc. programmes or its German-taught ones
- M.Sc. in Business Analytics & AI for working professionals
Both programmes start in October 2026.
Admission
- MBA/M.A. Technology Management: a bachelor's degree or higher with good grades, e.g. in engineering, technology, IT, natural sciences or business; work experience is a plus but not required
- M.Sc. Business Analytics & AI: a bachelor's degree (preferably business or economics), credits in mathematics, stochastics and software development, and at least one year of work experience
- Double Master's: a bachelor's in engineering, natural science or computer science; applications go through the TUHH process
Applicants submit a CV, degree certificate, transcript, proof of English and a statement of purpose online, followed by an interview. Admission is rolling.
Language requirements
All applicants whose native language is not English must prove their English, even if they studied in English. Accepted: TOEFL (at least 90 internet-based or 577 paper-based), IELTS Academic (at least 6.5 overall), Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency, telc English C1 or DAAD language certificate (C1). Double Master's students choosing a German-taught M.Sc. at the TUHH also need German at TestDaF or DSH level.
Scholarships and financial aid
- Industrial tuition scholarships offered through the NIT, especially for Double Master's students
- DAAD cost-of-living allowance for a limited number of international students without other scholarships: €250 per month for one year
- Student loans: Prodigy Finance for international students, KfW student loan, and an income share agreement (education fund)
- Foundation scholarships, e.g. Claussen Simon Foundation, Schotstek and Hemshorn Foundation
Tuition can be paid monthly.
