Proctor Academy
Primary and secondary school in Andover, The United States
Proctor Academy is a boarding and day school in Andover, New Hampshire, in the United States. It was founded in 1848 as a local school for the children of Andover and now has about 390 students on a 2,500-acre rural campus with 47 miles of trails and its own ski area. Its motto is "Live to Learn. Learn to Live."
Proctor offers more than 140 academic courses, five academic concentrations and over 30 art electives, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 4:1. The school combines experiential learning with an integrated academic support programme, including learning skills programmes for an additional fee. Trimester-long off-campus programmes are a central feature: the school states that 70% of students study off campus. Every student takes part in the afternoon athletics and activities programme, with more than 30 competitive teams, and new students begin with a Wilderness Orientation.
Students live in 21 small, family-style dormitories, where teachers act as advisors, coaches and dorm parents. Admission involves an inquiry, a campus visit with interview, and an application.
