Suleyman Demirel University

SDU University is a university in Kazakhstan with its campus in the city of Kaskelen, in the Karasai district of the Almaty region, at Abylai Khan street 1/1. It offers bachelor's, master's, PhD and MBA programmes organised in ECTS credits: a bachelor's degree requires 240 ECTS, a master's 120 ECTS and a PhD 180 ECTS. Each semester, students choose courses worth 20 to 42 ECTS and pay for them before the semester starts; fees for multidisciplinary courses differ from those for professional programme courses.

In September 2026 the university signed a memorandum of cooperation with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (USA). According to media coverage listed on its website, SDU was the first university in Central Asia to be fully accredited for three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.

The SDU Student House, on the Smart Campus about 30 metres from the university building, has places for 1,280 residents in four blocks, with separate dormitories for men and women, and the campus has 24-hour security. For the 2026-27 academic year, a residence place with meal plan costs 1,139,000 KZT per year or 569,500 KZT per semester.
