University, Graduate school in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The University of Tuzla (Univerzitet u Tuzli) is a public university in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Higher education in the city began in 1958 with the Higher Mining and Technical School; the agreement founding the university was signed in 1976, and in 1999 a law of Tuzla Canton established it as the Public Institution University of Tuzla. The university is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026, and its reaccreditation decision was formally presented on 3 April 2026.
Teaching takes place at 12 faculties and one Academy of Dramatic Arts, which together offer 123 study programmes at undergraduate, master's and doctoral level, including integrated first- and second-cycle programmes. Fields range from biomedical and technical sciences to the humanities and social sciences:
- Medicine and Pharmacy
- Electrical, Mechanical, and Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering
- Technology, Natural Sciences and Mathematics
- Economics and Law
- Philosophy, Special Education and Rehabilitation, Physical Education and Sports
- Dramatic arts: theatre, film, radio and television
The university's Student Center provides accommodation for about 500 students and a student restaurant, and places in the student residences are allocated through a ranking list each academic year. Students can also spend part of their studies abroad through Erasmus+.
