Valencia combines a large university city with a beach and a mild climate, which makes it a common choice for Spanish courses of a few weeks to a full year. Many of its language schools are in or near the historic centre, from the El Carmen neighbourhood to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and most teach Spanish to adults all year round.
The city has both private Spanish schools for international students and a public official language school, so it works for short-stay visitors, gap-year students and newcomers who will live and work in Valencia.
What the language schools in Valencia offer
The private schools usually run intensive group courses of about 20 lessons a week at all CEFR levels, plus private classes, exam preparation and special programmes. Examples from the schools' own websites:
- Españolé International House: Intensive 20 course of 20 classes of 50 minutes, levels A1 to C2, maximum 10 students, in a restored Gothic palace in El Carmen
- Costa de Valencia: Intensivo 20 course of 20 weekly classes of 50 minutes, plus preparation for the DELE A2 and CCSE exams needed for Spanish nationality and a UNEDasiss course
- 2Day Languages: intensive course of 20 teaching hours a week, with 3 to 10 students per class
- Intereuropa: school founded in 1998 on Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with intensive and extensive DELE preparation
- Euroace: in international education since 2005, with group and private classes and an official DELE, CCSE and SIELE exam centre
- AIP Language Institute: courses for over-50s and a summer school for teenagers
- Route 66 Idiomas: Spanish courses alongside English and other languages
The public option is the Escola Oficial d'Idiomes València-Saïdia, which teaches Spanish among many other languages, in face-to-face, blended and distance modes, and also registers external candidates for its certification exams.
Accreditation and official exams
The Instituto Cervantes accredits centres that teach Spanish as a foreign language, and accredited centres display its logo. In Valencia, 2Day Languages and Route 66 Idiomas, among others, state on their sites that they are accredited by the Instituto Cervantes. The DELE diplomas, awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain's education ministry, cover all CEFR levels from A1 to C2.
Costs
Each school sets its own prices, and the weekly price usually falls for longer stays. Examples for 2026:

Practical tips
- Visas: study stays of less than 90 days do not require a study visa, according to the Spanish consulate in London; for longer Spanish courses, apply at least two months before the start
- Climate: at AEMET's Valencia Aeropuerto station (1981-2010 normals) the average temperature is 10.5 °C in January and 25.5 °C in July
- Housing: Costa de Valencia, for example, lists shared flats, host families, university residences and hotels; book early for the start of the academic year
- Exams: if you need the DELE or SIELE, check whether your school is an exam centre and book the exam date early
