Italy has always been a center for learning for years. The country is still home to one of the oldest universities in the world. Why study a master’s degree, graduates studies and professional programs in Italy

Italy is indeed one of the best places to pursue these programs. This is because the country mixes a rich educational tradition with a modernizing outlook. This means that students get to earn qualifications that are respected globally. All universities in the country offer a variety of major-subject areas in these programs. Some even offer training and research opportunities.

Masters degree and graduate studies programs in Italy

A masters degree from Italy is guaranteed to open for students doors to other high-quality European organizations.

Masters in the country take two years to complete and it is awarded after one obtains a total of 120ECTS. This comprises of ECTS for electives, core courses, seminars, and a dissertation, which on its own represents 30 ECTS. The program is divided into four semesters with a summer holiday between the first and the second year. The forth semester is normally devoted to dissertation. This can be based on theory, via a placement, or by conducting a research project at the university or somewhere else.

All masters degree programs are based on tutorials, lectures, coursework and group work. Those in the sciences or engineering will possibly have practical sessions as well. The goal of this is to give students improved knowledge on their subject areas as well as research, technical, and interpersonal skills.

As mentioned earlier, masters degrees take two years to complete. PhDs, on the other hand, take 3-5 years to complete. The courses are taught in both English and Italian. It is, therefore, important to have a good understanding of both languages. For these programs, the type of universities you will study at include: universities for foreigners, technical universities, state universities, and telematics universities (these are learning institutions specialized in informatics and telecommunication).

To get admission for these programs, students have to sit for an entrance exam and ranking is done on the basis of their exam performance.

Professional programs in Italy

These programs offer specialized courses and the mostly run for one year. The programs are meant to offer more practical education in professional areas, for instance, architecture, education, engineering, or law just to mention a few. These programs do not, however, offer access to further levels of study. The programs are somewhat similar to postgraduate diplomas.

All these programs are open to all students both local and international. Students may be required to provide GMAT or GRE depending on the program being applied for and the language of instruction. An Italian proficiency certificate will also be required, especially for international students.
