About Language Immersion Courses in Egypt

Have you ever dreamed of studying Arabic in a country where the language is actually spoken?  Have you considered studying in Egypt, one of the most exciting and historically significant countries in the Middle East region?  Egypt is a beautiful country located primarily in North Africa, save for the Sinai Peninsula that forms a land bridge into Southwest Asia.  Covering an area of 390,000 square miles and with a population of over 81 million, Egypt is one of the most powerful and scenic countries in all of the Mideast and Muslim world and a fantastic locale for your one-of-a-kind language-learning experience.

Language Courses in Egypt

Learning a new language is never easy, especially Arabic, but experts say if you truly want to master the language there is no better way to do it than through full immersion.  Like most language schools today, the Arabic schools in Egypt feature small class sizes and an Arabic speaking instructor who is specially trained at imparting new language skills to first-time speakers.  Classes are held during the morning and feature small group instruction, guided practice and even one-on-one conversations with the instructor.  And once you begin to master your new skills you’ll have plenty of time to practice what you’ve learned as you venture out to explore your new surroundings and the people that make it special.

There are a number of highly-recommended Arabic schools in Egypt, located in various regions throughout the country, but if you’re looking for a true Egyptian experience you may want to set your sights on the country’s bustling capital city of Cairo—a city of over 20 million residents and the social, political and cultural center of Egypt.  Cairo, which is home to several Arabic language schools, is a city that effortlessly blends old world traditionalism with the modern, and it’s these sharp contrasts that make the city such a wonderful place to visit.  Some of the places to see while you’re visiting Cairo include:

  • The Giza Plateau.  The Giza Plateau plays host to the three great pyramids of Egypt:  Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure; as well as the Sphinx and a number of tombs and mortuary temples.  A must see for the history buff, this attraction is only 0.6 miles from Cairo’s city center and is open daily.
  • Egyptian Antiquities Museum.  If museums are your thing you simply must visit the Egyptian Antiquities Museum. Built in 1902, the museum houses the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the Tutankhamen (King Tut) collection, with its stunning gold death mask and sarcophagus.  The museum is located in the heart of Cairo and is open daily until 6 PM except during Ramadan.
  • The Mohammed Ali Mosque.  Crowning the Citadel of Salah ad-Din, the Mohammed Ali Mosque was built between 1824 and 1857 in the Ottoman style and was intended to echo the great mosques of the old Ottoman Empire.  The Mosque is still in use today and is a must-see for art and architecture aficionados.

If you truly want to learn the Arabic language as it’s actually spoken, while simultaneously bearing witness to some of the most beautiful structures ever built, there is simply no place in the world like Cairo, Egypt.  This fantastic city has something for everyone’s tastes and will make your language-learning experience a truly memorable one.
