Studies & Degrees in BBA
BBA Study Programs
BBA stands for Bachelor of Business Administration. It is an undergraduate degree that teaches how organisations work and how they are run: accounting, finance, marketing, management, economics, statistics and business law. The name comes from the United States and is now used by business schools around the world, usually for programmes taught in English with an international student body.
Most BBA programmes have the same shape. The first half covers the core business subjects. In the second half students choose a specialisation and often add an internship, an exchange semester or a final project. At SolBridge International School of Business in South Korea, for example, students learn key business concepts in their first and second years and then move on to one of eight specialisations, among them marketing, finance, accounting, management, entrepreneurship and data analytics.
Qualifications and levels
A BBA is a first degree, entered after secondary school. Its length depends on the country and the school.
- Four-year programmes. The BBA at SolBridge lasts four years, has 120 credits, is taught in person and in English, and has intakes in spring and autumn.
- Three-year programmes. The BBA in Global Business of Horizons University in Paris lasts three years and has 180 credits. It can be followed on campus in French or online in English; the online version has no classes and is based on course materials and assignments.
- Spain. An official Spanish bachelor's degree (grado) has 240 ECTS credits, normally four years. Business administration is one of the fields of knowledge under which official degrees are registered, and Spanish universities usually call the degree Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ADE). Some official degrees are close to a BBA in content and language: the Grado en Negocios y Marketing Internacionales of ESCI-UPF in Barcelona, a school of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, has 240 ECTS credits over four years and is taught 50% or 100% in English. The school describes it as an official degree.
The letters BBA are not a protected title. A programme called BBA may be an official university degree of the country where it is taught, a degree awarded by a partner university in another country, or the school's own diploma. Before enrolling, ask the school which institution awards the degree and what recognition it has, both in the country where you study and in the country where you plan to work or continue to a master's degree.
Where to study a BBA
SpainExchange lists 10 active schools for the BBA. Three are in Spain, all in Barcelona: ESCI-UPF, C3S Business School and UIBS / Barcelona Business School. The United States, France, Slovenia, Thailand, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Zambia have one each. They include The University of Texas at Austin, Horizons University in Paris, SolBridge in Daejeon, St Teresa International University in Thailand, Emirates College of Technology in Abu Dhabi and the University of Ljubljana School of Economics and Business (UL SEB).
English is the usual language of a BBA, but not the only one. UL SEB teaches its university degree programme in business and economics in Slovenian and English, and its professional degree programme in business administration in Slovene. Admission normally requires a secondary school diploma or equivalent, and schools that teach in English ask non-native speakers for proof of their level.
Costs
Prices vary greatly between schools. Two examples, as listed by the schools when this page was checked in October 2026: ESCI-UPF gives a price of €138 per credit for its 240-credit degree, and Horizons University lists tuition of €3,550 per year. Confirm the current fees and what they include with each school.
Careers
BBA graduates work in accounting, finance, marketing, sales, human resources, logistics and consulting, or start their own companies; many continue to a master's degree. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics gives a bachelor's degree as the typical entry-level education for occupations such as accountants and auditors and management analysts. It projects that overall employment in business and financial occupations in the United States will grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2025 to 2035, with about 886,600 openings a year on average. These figures apply to the US labour market only.
