Bard College is a private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college in Annandale-on-Hudson, in New York's Hudson Valley, about 90 miles north of New York City. It describes itself as "a private college in the public interest", with civic engagement at the core of its mission. The college has about 1,900 undergraduate students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 8:1.

Undergraduates earn a bachelor of arts in one of approximately 35 programmes, organised in these divisions:

  • Arts
  • Languages and Literature
  • Science, Mathematics, and Computing
  • Social Studies
  • Interdivisional programmes and concentrations

Five-year dual-degree options combine a BA with a BS in economics and finance or a BM at the Bard College Conservatory of Music. Students progress to the Upper College through Moderation and complete a Senior Project. Graduate programmes include human rights and environmental policy.

The Office of International Students and Scholar Services (OISSS) advises international students. Bard has no full-scale English as a Second Language programme, so applicants need strong English before arrival; the college has been test-optional (SAT/ACT) for over 50 years. More than 50 residences house students on campus, and 77% of undergraduates receive Bard aid.
