British Montessori Los Fresnos is a private, co-educational, non-denominational school at Calle Navacerrada 13 in Alpedrete, in the Sierra northwest of Madrid. It is one of three British Montessori campuses in the area, together with El Enebral in Collado Villalba and Mataespesa in Alpedrete, and belongs to the Grupo Montessori School. The school states that it has been teaching students since 1993. It is a British foreign school fully authorised by the Comunidad de Madrid, so its studies can be recognised (homologated) in the Spanish system. It is a member of NABSS (the National Association of British Schools in Spain), is subject to the British Council's quality controls for British schools in Spain, and is a recognised exam centre for Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel.
From early years to sixth form the school follows the UK curriculum, with Spanish language and culture added. Early years are taught with the Montessori method, and its influence continues in later stages. Students finish with IGCSE and A level qualifications awarded by Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel. Sixth-form students also prepare the PCE exams, and entry to Spanish universities is through the credential issued by UNED.
Places are offered from a waiting list ordered by application date, and from Year 5 (ages 9-10) applicants have an interview before admission.
