Canterbury School is a private British international school in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, founded in 1972 by Beryl Pritchard. It began as a small kindergarten with seventeen pupils and now has more than a thousand pupils of many nationalities, aged from 18 months to 18 years. The school is an IB World School authorised to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Teaching is through English immersion, with a strong emphasis on Spanish language and literature and Canarian culture, and a third language from age 11. Pupils take Cambridge external exams. The school has three sites:

  • Milton House, Las Palmas: Infant, 18 months to 5 years
  • San Lorenzo, Lomo el Diviso: Primary, Secondary and Bachillerato, ages 6-18
  • Maspalomas: Infant and Primary, ages 3-10

A basketball programme lets students combine sport and study. Admission is not selective: pupils can join at any time of the year and at any age if a place is available, otherwise they go on a waiting list. Families start with a guided visit; from Year 2 to Year 13 the school asks for academic reports and arranges a meeting between the pupil and the head of department.
